A night of pampering, eating and laughing is on the bill next week for the 10th annual Girls' Night Out, the longest-running fundraiser for the Port Moody Arts Centre.

More than 200 women will be at Port Moody city hall on Friday, Oct. 3 for the gala, with organizers hoping to raise a record $10,000 for the final stages of the PMAC expansion project (proceeds will be spent on renovations and new equipment for the old city hall building).

Organizer Kelly Doyle is asking future attendees to buy their tickets in person - and with cash - at the ScotiaBank branch (2501 St. John's St.), which is again matching its walk-in sales with an equivalent donation. Last year, the lead sponsor brought in around $4,000 for the arts hub, bringing the event total to about $8,000. "If people are buying their tickets online then ScotiaBank is not able to match it," Doyle said.

The so-called "evening of comedy by women, for women" will see a return of Erica Sigurdson as emcee plus performances from young comic Sophie Biddle and The Ovarian Sisters, an improv trio.

And new for this year will be an extension of the pre-show reception that will feature the Kristian Alexandrov jazz trio with vocalist Shannon Gaye, and beauty, fashion and cooking demonstrations. As well, Fred Soofi - yes, a man! - of Pasta Polo will serve appetizers and whip up his signature "art-inis," a twist on the old-fashioned martinis.

Best of all, participants walk out with a swag bag valued at $100. "It's a great night out for women to socialize, network and unwind," Doyle said.

Tickets are $45, or $40 each for a group of six or more. Visit pomoarts.ca for details.
