Greek goddesses at Riverside

The anti-war Greek drama, adapted by River's Edge Theatre teacher Nicole Roberge, will be one of two plays the school will enter in next month's MetFest at Heritage Woods secondary (the other is 15-Minute Hamlet by Tom Stoppard).

The Riverside fest will also include three student-directed shorts: Seeing the Light, The Price and Impromptu. Tickets at $5 are available at the door of the school (2215 Reeve St.) on show night.

Meanwhile, amixed bag of comedy is being offered this week by drama students at a Coquitlam high school.

The Best Players at Dr. Charles Best secondary will present a one-act play festival featuring Woody Allen's Death, A Story of Chelm by Linda Shapario and Driver's Test by Alden R. Carter.

The productions run tonight until Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the school (2525 Como Lake Ave.). Tickets at $10/$8 are available at the door.

Drama instructor Brad Case said Death will be Best's entry to MetFest 2013, the annual one-act fest by School District 43 drama teachers that happens next month at Heritage Woods secondary in Port Moody.

Other MetFest entries include Back to the Future (Gleneagle secondary).
