More than 450 artworks from Tri-City residents and students were sent to High River, AB, this week to support them post-flood.
The project, titled Hi Art From the Heart, was organized by Port Coquitlam art educator Diane Moran.
The messages and art will be received by elementary students at Holy Spirit Academy, who Moran said have been taking classes in a community centre following the devastating floods in June.
WINTER ART

Students of Sue Cowan will work on still-life arrangements and develop drawing and painting techniques. A Painting A Day starts Jan. 16.
Artist Joy Kirkwood will lead an acrylics on paper night class, beginning on Jan. 15, while teacher Stan Hunc has Drawing 102 and Painting 101.

Tickets for an annual arts festival in Port Moody are now on sale.
PoMo ArtsFest (formerly the Port Moody Festival of the Arts) will feature eight events over four days in February and includes an opening reception gala with jazz musician Jens Lindemann.

CRAZY FILM
A Coquitlam director and writer has been named a semi-finalist in the Crazy8s competition.
This month, Shannon Kohli's pitch for an action/drama, titled A Spy's Last Night, was shortlisted in the 15th annual film event out of 154 applications.
Produced by Rob Meekison, the narrative centres on a decision made by agent Tom Hudson: Risk his life to save the world from doom or have peas with supper.
Six winners will be chosen in the film event, with their work premiering on March 1 in Vancouver.
