GREENTHUMBS

Tri-City artists, musicians and residents with spectacular gardens are being sought for next year's Art in the Garden Tour and Fair.

The Port Moody Arts Centre Society is looking for Port Moody-area people wanting to exhibit their lush gardens for the annual event. Call 604-936-2749 or email [email protected] for a preview or to apply.

ALL THAT BRASS

A world-renowned musician will trumpet the opening of next year's Port Moody Festival of the Arts.

Jens Lindemann, who is best known for performing with the Canadian Brass, will launch the winter festival that will run Feb. 20 to 23, 2014.

Now called the PoMo ArtsFest, the four-day series will also include performances by the Kristian Alexandrov Trio featuring Shannon Gaye, Digital Guise and Silk Road Music featuring dancer Wen Wei Wang. Tickets go on sale in December.

NEW GIGS

The visual arts manager for Coquitlam's Evergreen Cultural Centre is now working at a gallery in North Vancouver.

Astrid Heyerdahl was appointed to ECC in February 2011.

The Pinetree Way arts hub is now searching for her replacement, a spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, Heyerdahl's predecessor was last month appointed as curator of the Burnaby Art Gallery. Ellen van Eijnsbergen was named last month to the position after serving as the city's fine arts co-ordinator at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.
