Lots of fun around town for kids on Pro-D day

Parents can sign up their young ones in kindergarten to Grade 5 for a day-long art camp at Place des Arts.

This Pro-D spring camp, which runs from 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., will focus on the ocean and students can learn about underwater life through music, art, movement and drama classes. Meanwhile, Port Coquitlam's Terry Fox Library (2470 Mary Hill Rd.) will screen Madagscar 3: Europe's Most Wanted on Pro-D day. The rated-G movie, which starts at 2 p.m., takes Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman through Europe where they find the perfect cover: a travelling circus. Call 604-927-7999.

The city of PoCo is also hosting a Pro-D day special on recycled art for kids aged five to 10. Participants will sketch, colour, paint and design art pieces and learn about the environment to coincide with Earth Day on Monday. Eco-sculptures runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Leigh Square. And Coquitlam's Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way) hosts Earth Day Hooray! for children and teens aged six to 13 on April 19. Celebrate Mother Earth by painting nature scenes and using recycled materials to create a craft during the full camp that runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or half-day in the morning or afternoon.
