A collective of adult artists living with mental health challenges will showcase some of their pieces in a Port Coquitlam exhibit that opens tomorrow.
My Artist Corner - better known as MAC - will launch Wonders of Nature during Mental Health Week at the Leigh Square Community Arts Village on May 2; the opening reception will be held on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m., and artists demos are on May 11 and 25, also from 2 to 4 p.m., in conjunction with the display that ends June 2.
Made up of 25 artists from the Tri-Cities, New West and Burnaby, MAC aims to support artists with mental health issues and combat them through artistic expression.
"We value the opportunity, in terms of space, time and materials to create art which in turn increases self-confidence, reduces isolation and helps in developing social skills," MAC stated.
