Malani shows her skills at Bard

Playing two roles in two separate plays would could get confusing for someone not accustomed to the rigours of performing.

Playing two roles in two separate plays would could get confusing for someone not accustomed to the rigours of performing.

But Coquitlam's Sereana Malani said she has no trouble playing Isabella, a lead character, in the Bard on the Beach production of Measure for Measure while playing one of the ladies in waiting in Elizabeth Rex, penned by Timothy Findley.

"They're smart about the way they split up the rehearsal times," she said. "Rehearsals are six days a week - three days on one show and three days on the other."

The former Gleneagle secondary student said the two plays are different in tone and she has no trouble differentiating the roles.

Malani has been a fan of the Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival since she saw the Midsummer Night's Dream performance when she was 16.

"It's huge," she said. "Every single day -this is what I train to do - but I still have to pinch myself because I'm so lucky that this is my job."

There will be plenty of Malani's friends and family in the crowd when the show starts tonight (July 3).
