New pianist on PdA faculty

An accomplished pianist has scaled to the faculty at Coquitlam's Place des Arts. Monica Pfau, a teacher for more than 20 years, will teach private piano and theory lessons to students of all ages and levels at the Maillardville facility.

An accomplished pianist has scaled to the faculty at Coquitlam's Place des Arts.

Monica Pfau, a teacher for more than 20 years, will teach private piano and theory lessons to students of all ages and levels at the Maillardville facility.

A soloist, accompanist, chamber musician and orchestral player in North America and Europe, Pfau won a doctoral fellowship for her UBC studies. She also earned an academic exchange scholarship to the Hochschule für Musik in Munich, Germany.

And next February, Pfau will perform A Celebration of Czech Music IV with violinist Roger Mangas as part of Place des Arts' faculty concert series.

In other Place des Arts news, tickets are now on sale for its annual gala fundraiser.

Dress up in 1950s party wear for Impromptu: Live! On Air, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.

Early bird tickets at $50 or $80 (VIP admission) are available until Sept. 30 with regular tickets at $60 or $90. VIP entry includes a drink ticket, admission to the after-party with the cast and a late-night snack.

Proceeds from the event, which is sponsored in part by The Tri-City News, benefit the centre's arts education programs.
