NYC for 18 dance students

A Port Coquitlam dance studio marking its 20th anniversary will send 18 students to New York City this week.

A Port Coquitlam dance studio marking its 20th anniversary will send 18 students to New York City this week.

For its 10-day trip, K&S Dance Productions will be taking part in classes at a number of studios including The Broadway Centre and Steps, said spokesperson Lisa Kelly.

As well, the group will see a Broadway show and join the Rockette Experience half-day class at Radio City Music Hall.

Kelly said NYC was picked because K&S owner/director Sharise Mitzel did a studio tour of Manhattan as a dance student with her teacher, Betty McHardy, a former Rockette, and "she wanted her students to have the same opportunity," Kelly said.

K&S plans to be in Las Vegas in July 2012 for Dance Power's 20th anniversary celebrations.
