Dance the night away as the Evergreen Cultural Centre turns into a Latin night club on New Year's Eve.
The Hot Salsa Dance Zone hosts its annual party in the ECC rehearsal room (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam), featuring salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia and cha-cha-cha sounds to sway your hips.
Organizer Alberto Gonzalez will perform a number - along with his fellow dance instructor/partner Teresa Szefler - at 10:30 p.m. while champagne will flow at midnight to usher in 2015.
"It's going to be a spicy New Year's," he said, noting last year's dance drew more than 100 party-goers grooving to the high-energy beats. "It's always lots of fun."
But, unlike in years past, there will be no dance class for beginners. Instead the Dec. 31 event will go from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., with Gonzalez working the DJ table for the five hours.
Participants are encouraged to wear loose clothing and comfortable shoes to boogie. A cash bar will be available and parking is free.
Dance partners are not required. "Come with your friends or come alone. There's enough room on the dance floor for everybody," Gonzalez said.
And be sure to "dress to impress. It's New Year's Eve so we want you to look your best while having fun."
