Photos line Port Coquitlam streets

New banners will go up to adorn Port Coquitlam's streets following a community-wide contest that saw nearly 90 entries.

New banners will go up to adorn Port Coquitlam's streets following a community-wide contest that saw nearly 90 entries.

The city, with the help of online voters, picked 25 photos to represent the themes of acting living, nature, city living, community spirit, and arts and culture.

The new banners will replace the city's 100th anniversary flags that featured the faces of people active in the community; they will be placed around downtown PoCo, on the Coast Meridian Overpass, the PoCo rec complex, city hall and the Hyde Creek rec centre.

Last week, the city announced the winners of the banner contest: Jeremy Current, Rhea Hayes, David Hodge, Ethan Kazemir, Steve Kazemir, Paul Livingston, Port Coquitlam Sports Alliance, Mike Robertson, Rhea Rose, Eran Roubini and Linda Stacey.

Residents and groups that took part in the banner contest will be recognized at a reception on April 28 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Leigh Square Community Arts Village.
