When Port Moody punk outfit Sally's Hot takes the stage this weekend, the band will be continuing an annual tradition they started back in high school.

Members of the four-piece group attended Port Moody secondary, where they took part in the rock school program.

The class teaches young musicians how to organize and promote live concerts, lessons the band took to heart long after leaving their high school.

"We do these maybe two times a year," said T.J. Gibson, the group's drummer. "We started three years ago and we are all from Port Moody."

This Friday (May 25), the group will share the stage with new age punk band Green Tree along with progressive rockers Ransack.

Concert-goers will also witness a special treat when members from each of the group combine to form I.D.S, a cover band that plays everything from Angels and Airwaves to Alien Ant Farm.

Doors of the Inlet Theatre (100 Newport Drive, Port Moody) will open at 7:45 p.m. and the show is expected to begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. For more information call 778-822-7510 or go to www.facebook.com/sallyshot.
