SFU pipe band helps one of its own

A special benefit concert by the SFU Pipe Band to help one of their own battling cancer will be held this month.

A special benefit concert by the SFU Pipe Band to help one of their own battling cancer will be held this month.

The band, which includes about a dozen Tri-City residents, will host its show on March 28 in honour of long-time member and world-class piper Andrew Bonar of Surrey, who has brain cancer.

"Andrew is a key member of the SFU piping family and has performed with us for over three decades and we want to acknowledge his contributions as a pillar of the band while creating an opportunity to do something positive for this cause,"SFU Pipe-Sergeant Jack Lee said in a news release.

The fundraiser takes place at the SFU Theatre at 6 p.m. Visit sfupb.com for tickets.
