Singers wanted for Port Coquitlam adult choir

A year-old Port Coquitlam choral group will accept new singers next month for its upcoming season. The Choral Connections Adult Community Choir will restart on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at Riverside secondary (2215 Reeve St.) at 7:30 p.m.

The Choral Connections Adult Community Choir will restart on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at Riverside secondary (2215 Reeve St.) at 7:30 p.m. And tenor and bass singers are especially needed for the 60-member ensemble.

Accompanied by pianist Vincent Lo, the choir is now under the baton of Ingrid Gay, a School District 43 music teacher since 1996 who is now at Heritage Woods secondary in Port Moody.

Previously, Gay taught private voice and piano classes while directing a church choir in North Vancouver. This year, Gay completed her master's degree from the University of Oregon.

Broadway's best

Songs from The King and I, Oklahoma and Phantom of the Opera can be heard next Saturday at Port Coquitlam's Terry Fox Theatre.

SPECC-tacular Productions presents its show Nights On Broadway on Sept. 6 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the venue (1260 Riverwood Gate, beside the secondary school).

Kids only

A new Kindermusik studio will open this fall in Coquitlam.

And operator Sarah Kinsman will host a free class on Monday, Sept. 8 from 10:30 to 11 a.m. for toddlers and preschoolers, aged 20 months to five years old.
