"We've been touring Canada, done a few music videos, won some small awards," says Port Moody's J Thorn, one-half of the duo that includes his brother, Illucid.

The hip-hop group, which will be performing on Saturday as part of the three-day Golden Spike festival, spent some time across the country last year with Swollen Members, Sweatshop Union, Moka Only and Kyprios, a Juno-award nominee.

And soon the Centennial secondary grads will be back on the road with Apathy and Celph Titled (aka Vic Mercer), of Florida.

In August, the pair hopes to find enough time in their schedules to launch their second album, Long Run Home, and solo projects. "We want to have lots and lots of product out there," Thorn said from his sound studio, Paranoyd. "It's important to us to have a visible presence in the market."

Long Run Home, which will be sold at Golden Spike in advance of the release date, contains 12 songs and is more rock 'n roll than their debut, Our Present Future. "The last one had more of a party vibe," Thorn said. "With this new work, it's still upbeat, motivational and positive. We're looking up, not down. It's a little bit tougher but it's still very clean in terms of hip hop today.

Thorn added, "We're not very happy with the way most hip hop bands are going. We're not trying to become misogynists or put anything out there that is violent."

As for their Port Moody show, Thorn said it will appeal to all ages and will include guest artists who collaborated on Long Road Home, namely Kurt Scott and Attikus.

Indelible appears on the Golden Spike Days stage at Rocky Point Park on June 29 at 5 p.m. For the festival line-up, visit goldenspike.ca/entertainment/schedule.
