Three artists showing their work in the spring Federation of Canadian Artists' show that opens tomorrow (Thursday) in Port Coquitlam have won cash prizes.

Emerging artist Amy J. Dyck of Langley was awarded the top accolade of $100 for her oil figure painting titled The Vessel while Heidi Lambert of Maple Ridge scored $75 for her watercolour Pretty in Pink. Third place and $50 was given to Jolanta K McPherson of Mission for Farm Fresh.

The 50 paintings submitted online by members of the Fraser Valley chapter were juried by FCA signature members Perry Haddock, Anne Hudec and Don Hodgins. A total of 40 pieces will be on display at Leigh Square Community Arts Village in PoCo starting Thursday, said organizer and PoCo resident Michael King.

King said the spring exhibit will offer a variety from members living between New Westminster and Chilliwack, including oils, encaustics, acrylics, watercolours, pen and ink and graphite drawings.

And the public can meet the artists at an opening reception, which will be held on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Gathering Place at Leigh Square (beside PoCo city hall). The exhibit runs until April 27.
