T. Nile is taking a break from her busy touring schedule to promote her latest album, Tingle and Spark, that came out in August.
But the Galiano Island native will be making a special appearance at Port Coquitlam's Terry Fox Theatre next week - and is hoping to talk to some of the secondary Rock School students before her show.
Recently, the indie musician taught a workshop for the Surrey school board and will be performing before 600 students at Lord Byng secondary in Vancouver. "I really enjoy connecting with the youth," Nile said. "They have so much energy."
Although it will be her first time at the Fox Theatre, Nile is no stranger to the Tri-Cities: She cut her first two EPs, At My Table and Cabin Song, at the Coquitlam home studio of producer and engineer Adam Popowitz, who now works for the Vancouver music label Nettwerk.
Still, her full-length album differs from her former two. It's "contemporary," she said, offering more of an electric groove than her previous folk tunes. For her concert, Nile will be playing some songs unplugged and some with backup music.
She'll be joined by special guests Bridgeworks and The Specifics.
T. Nile will perform on Thursday, Nov. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Terry Fox Theatre (1260 Riverwood Gate, Port Coquitlam). It is the first show presented by the Port Coquitlam Performing Arts Society. For tickets at $15/$12, visit terryfoxtheatre.org.
