Coquitlam's Place des Arts is offering Taiko drumming to youth and adults again this fall.
Taiko, the Japanese word for drum, involves playing the instrument with martial arts-like choreography (visit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjoRmU8Z7Hk&feature=youtu.be).
Students of teacher Elen Hunter-Ishikawa will learn rhythms, stance, movement and fundamental technique.The adult ensemble will also cover technical terms, history and musical skills through rhythmic games, audio and video examples.
No experience is necessary.
