Unleash your inner artist this weekend as you snack on tapas and enjoy a glass of vino in Place des Arts' second Palette event.
Following closely on the success of the first event, Palette...eat, paint, create! is back to offer a relaxed, social environment to explore your creative side - not to mention a chance to gather with friends while doing something a bit out of the ordinary.
"The success of the first Palette was how completely relaxed the group got," said Michael Fera, events co-ordinator at the Coquitlam arts centre, noting the emphasis was on the experience - not the end result on the canvas. "It was about having fun and getting to know your neighbour."
The first event drew a mixed crowd from the Tri-Cities and beyond, said Joan McCauley, PdA's executive director, including couples, a "girls' night out" and a mother-daughter team.
"Everyone was totally into the painting," McCauley said. "We had some with absolutely no experience and some with more experience. But there was no timidity - there was a great lightness - and the people created this fun, lively, creative vibe."
The upcoming Palette session will feature a tapas menu that includes a charcuterie plate, warmed olives, artisan breads and crackers, a selection of fine cheeses, a fruit plate and assorted petit fours. Anyone with dietary restrictions is encouraged to contact Fera at 604-664-1636 (ext. 34).
Palette...eat, paint, create! is on Saturday, Sept. 20 at Place des Arts (1120 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam). Tickets are $25/person or $40/two people, available at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/772402 or at 604-664-1636. Visit www.placedesarts.ca for more information.
