One of the best acoustic and slide guitar players in the world will appear in Coquitlam on Thursday with a well-known Canadian musician.

Martin Simpson will team up with singer-songwriter Suzie Vinnick for a concert at the Evergreen Cultural Centre, featuring a blend of folk and blues tunes.

"It's not often that you get to hear two award-winning, internationally renowned songwriters play in a single evening," said David Mann, Evergreen's performing arts manager, in a news release.

British native Simpson, who is touring Canada, will be plugging his latest album while Saskatchewan-born Vinnick, who is based in Ontario, will play her roots and blues songs.

Vinnick's 2012 album, Me 'n Mabel, received a 2012 Juno nomination. That year, she also won the CBC Saturday Night Blues Great Canadian Blues Award and the Sirius/XM Blues Artist of the Year. Simpson also has scooped a number of accolades over his 40-year career. He has been nominated 23 times for a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award including nine times in a row as Artist of the Year.
