The Evergreen Cultural Centre recently announced the next show in its Family Series, Cinderella, presented by the touring ensemble Vancouver Opera in Schools on Sunday, March 13 at 2pm in the Studio Theatre.

"We are so delighted to have VOS return to Evergreen," said David Mann, Performing Arts Manager for the Evergreen Cultural Centre, in a news release. "They made their Coquitlam debut several years ago with their showThe Barber of Barkerville, part of the Schools in the Community program that, unfortunately, lost its funding in 2010. When their latest touring show for young audiences came up, it made perfect sense to include it in Evergreen Family Series."

This fairy tale told in song is full of lively tunes, face-paced fun, comical characters and a few added surprises. Cinderella is brought to life in an enchanting English adaptation of Rossini's full length opera,La Cenerentola. The opera was first performed in Rome's Teatro Valle in 1817. Rossini composedLa Cenerentola when he was 25 years old, following the success ofThe Barber of Seville the year before.

The VOS adaptation is 45 minutes and is followed by a short Q & A with the four singer/performers. Everyone is familiar with the story, and this operatic version is sure to entertain not only the younger audience members, but their parents as well. It makes for an ideal family date!

Tickets toCinderella are $18 adult/senior, $14 for children (5 - 12); a Family of 4 is $54. Groups of 8 or more, and MyChoice members receive 10% off. Call the cox office 604-927-6555.
