Scholarship winners were recognized last Saturday at the annual Place des Arts' award gala.
The Coquitlam arts centre had performances in music and dance from the recipients as well an exhibit from visual artist Amy Forsyth, who won the W.H. Sclater Memorial Award.
Other winners are: Pianist Iris Hung (Fern Bouvier Arts Legacy Award); pianist Chi Cheuk Yung (Scholarship for Advanced Musical Studies); pianist Andrew Wang (Elliott Harty Piano Scholarship); dancer Aiishe Brokopp-Rayne (Coquitlam Maillardville Heritage Trust Award); and violinist Artemon Kiriac-Relinski (Leonore Peyton Memorial Award).
Place des Arts also handed out scholarships to pianists Simon Fu, Waleed Hakeem, Christen James and Stefan Ungurean.
ON TRIAL
Retired School District 43 drama teacher David Secunda is in Moises Kaufman's play Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde.

GRANVILLE ART
Coquitlam artist Adi Parker will display her painting series called Untitled, Granville next month.
In her show, which runs at the Waterfront Theatre on Granville Island until August, Parker turns the tables on the viewers, asking them to name the pieces. Visit actualpaint.com/untitled.html.

Jennifer Pielak of Port Coquitlam's Second Storey Theatre will be in a one-act musical at the rEvolver Festival this month.
