More than 50 young performers from around Metro Vancouver will be lacing up their dance shoes for Alice In A Winter Wonderland, which runs at Port Coquitlam's Terry Fox Theatre this and next month.

The all-ages musical that follows Alice on her adventure through Wonderland on Christmas Eve is sponsored by the non-profit Backstage Youth Performers' Society and happens on Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. as well as on Dec. 1 at 6:30 p.m. and Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m.

Taking on the lead role for a second year in a row is Tricia Zuskind, 17, a Grade 12 student at Coquitlam's Centennial secondary. A dance student at the Tri-City Dance Centre since five, Zuskind is now a company member, and regularly competes and performs with Showstoppers, a vocal group. Next year, she plans to major in dance and musical theatre at Oklahoma City University, where she studied last summer on scholarship.

This spring, Zuskind will be in the Royal City Musical Theatre's production of Hello, Dolly!

"Tricia excels as a performer, has reached a high level of dance training and is very focused and dedicated," said Shannon Stewardson, director of the Tri-City Dance Centre and Backstage board member, in a news release. "I doubt that anything will stop her as her talent is exceptional. While Alice was her first major musical theatre role, she handled it like a true professional and received many, many compliments on her performance."

Tickets for the show are $14/$12 through www.terryfoxtheatre.com and www.vtix.com.
