Adults and children alike are counting down the days until Santa makes an appearance.
But did you know that even here in the Tri-Cities you can talk to Santa on Christmas Eve?
A recent radio upgrade has given Coquitlam Mounties an ability to talk to Santa at Christmas.
“We’re pretty excited about the chance to connect with Santa, so we want to give local kids that same chance on Christmas Eve,” said Const. Sara Tilley with Coquitlam RCMP.
This year, there will be police cars decked out in holiday bling at two locations — one in Coquitlam and one in Port Coquitlam — and In exchange for the chance to talk to Santa over the police radio, each child will be asked to do a good deed in the community — so they can stay off the naughty list, Tilley said.
Here’s where kids can talk to Santa on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 24:
• PoCo: near Leigh Square, at the corner of Shaughnessy Street and McAllister Avenue, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Coquitlam: near the Lincoln SkyTrain station, at the corner of Pinetree Way and Northern Avenue from 1 to 3 p.m.
For those who want to stay in touch with Santa on Christmas Eve, there is also the Norad Santa Tracker, available at www.noradsanta.org.
There are games and even a mobile app to help families get in touch with the holiday spirit.
