Translink to release 10,000 adult Compass wristbands March 4

A fresh batch of 10,000 adult Translink Compass wristbands will be back on sale Monday, March 4, three months after customers burned through the first 2,000 to go on sale in two hours.

On Dec. 3, the same day they first went on sale, the immensely popular wristbands were being scalped on Craigslist for over 10-times their $6 refundable deposit.

Back then, Translink riders were queued up around the block to pick up one of the limited-run wristbands.

The wristbands work the same as a Compass card. You tap in and out at Skytrain fare gates and on buses. You can also reload them online, at Compass vending machines, by phone and in person.

Customers can purchase adult wristbands in person at one of Translink’s two customer service centres: at Stadium-Chinatown Station, Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., or at the West Coast Express office at Waterfront Station from 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Translink says it will order more wristbands if demand remains high, and that concession wristbands will be available as soon as the transit company receives them from their supplier.
