The results of the second quarter for the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver are in and the city's share is about the same as it was last year.

The United Boulevard facility - which is owned by Great Canadian Gaming Corp. and was rebranded from Boulevard Casino last December - paid Coquitlam $1.63 million as the city's 10% share of net proceeds.

That's just slightly less than April to June 2013, when the Boulevard Casino paid $1.69 million to the city.

Hard Rock's first full quarter this year was also on par for the same period last year, bringing in $1.5 million for Coquitlam, which divvies the money up between capital projects and community grants.

This past spring, the city handed out $112,395 in Spirit of Coquitlam grants to 18 organizations. Among the big winners were the Coquitlam Farmers' Market, Community Volunteer Services for Seniors and Children of the Street Society.

To date, Coquitlam has deposited nearly $100 million since the casino opened in 2001.
