About 2,000 motorcyclists — many decked out in Christmas costumes and packing stuffed animals — will rev up at Coquitlam Centre Sunday morning for the Vancouver Motorcycle Toy Run.

The 39th annual event will launch from the mall at 9:30 a.m., with riders driving to the PNE grounds via Barnet Highway in Coquitlam and Port Moody, and down Hastings Street.

Last year's parade, organized by the BC Coalition of Motorcyclists, brought in $2,000 in cash and hundreds of children's toys for the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau; the donations were distributed around the region including to Share Family and Community Services in the Tri-Cities.

Motorcyclists wanting to join the run are asked to bring a new child's toy wrapped in plastic as an entry fee. The event is sponsored in part by the city of Coquitlam and Dominion Lending Centres. Visit lmcb.ca.
