A letter to Tri-City News readers

The Tri-City News will shift to one-day-a-week publication beginning Jan. 3, 2019

A letter to readers of The Tri-City News:

For virtually the entirety of The Tri-City News' 33-year history, it has been two things: a successful enterprise that serves the community and employs dozens of Tri-City residents; and a twice-a-week newspaper.

Only one of those things is about to change.

Beginning Jan. 3, 2019, The Tri-City News will be consolidating its two issues into a single edition to be published every Thursday.

The short answer to the obvious question — Why? — is that times are changing and The Tri-City News is changing with them.

The long answer is that Tri-City News readers are consuming their news and advertising in more ways than ever, and we’re always looking for ways to serve everyone who is interested in the kind of hyper-local news that is our bread and butter.

While we will be cutting back the number of our print editions, we are not reducing our coverage or our staff. In fact, over the last three years, our team of journalists and marketing consultants has expanded, and we are looking to invest and expand again to bolster our digital coverage of our community as we adapt and evolve in an ever-changing media landscape.

The result of this latest change will mean readers receive a bigger newspaper on their doorsteps every Thursday starting in January — loaded with all the local news, ads and flyers that they have come to expect from The Tri-City News.

We're excited about this latest change and look forward to serving our readers and clients for many more years to come.

Make sure to pick up your Dec. 19 edition of The Tri-City News for more details of these exciting changes.
