A parade in downtown Port Coquitlam will honour veterans on Remembrance Day

A parade beginning at 10 a.m. on Nov. 11 will mark the start of Remembrance Day activities.

A public day of remembrance is being held Nov. 11 in Port Coquitlam to honour Canadian veterans.

After two years of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, residents, family, friends and visitors can take part in special ceremonies that will begin at 10 a.m. on Remembrance Day.

The Port Coquitlam Royal Canadian Legion Branch 133 will hold its annual Remembrance Day service and parade, in downtown Port Coquitlam.

Veterans and officials will parade through Shaughnessy Street from Wilson Avenue to McAllister Avenue starting at 10 a.m., and ending at the cenotaph in Veterans Park in front of PoCo city hall for a wreath-laying service.

You can view the full program, including the parade route, parking and a map of road closures on the City of Port Coquitlam Remembrance Day webpage.

Residents are encouraged to honour veterans by wearing a poppy, available at city hall as of today (Nov. 1), for a donation supporting Legion Branch 133.

Residents may then place a poppy on the cenotaph at Veterans Park.
