An Afghan vet who is the executive director of the Veterans' Transition Network was elected last night to run for the Conservatives in the new riding of Port Moody-Coquitlam.
Tim Laidler was chosen by the riding members on Tuesday in Coquitlam as the Tory candidate to battle incumbent MP Fin Donnelly (NDP, New Westminster-Coquitlam) in the October 2015 federal election.
Some 500 riding members selected Laidler in a preferential ballot, in the third round.
The other candidates were Bernie Hillier, the constituency assistant for BC Liberal MLA Doug Horne (Coquitlam-Burke Mountain); Maria Javier; and Janine Davies, the Tri-Cities' Chamber of Commerce board chairperson.
