A Port Coquitlam man will next appear in court Oct. 2 for an arraignment hearing stemming from sexual assault charges levelled against him.
Saadeldin Bahr, also known as Dr. Saad, is imam at the Masjid Al-Hidayah and Islamic Cultural Centre on Kingsway Avenue.
Coquitlam RCMP said earlier this month Bahr was charged after an alleged incident in June.
Because of a publication ban to protect the identity of the alleged victim, Mounties said they were unable to provide further information.
Bahr has been a prominent member of the Muslim community, serving as the PoCo mosque's imam for a number of years.
