Officials with Canada's biggest professional road cycling series will be in Port Coquitlam next week to make an announcement about an upcoming race in the city.

Mayor Greg Moore will be joined by BC Superweek representatives and professional cyclists at a media conference on Thursday.

BC Superweek is a series in July that involves eight races over nine days — with cash prizes for the winners.

Among its races are: Tour de Delta, UBC Grand Prix, Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix, Giro di Burnaby and the Tour de White Rock.

Also at the press announcement will be Mark Ernsting, owner and founder of M1 Sports Management; John Tolkamp, president of Cycling Canada Cylisme; Cherly Taunton, co-founder and co-chair of UBC Grand Prix; and Kelly and Glenn Hobbis, owners of Port Coquitlam's Westwood Cycle.
