On what would have been Amanda Todd's 16th birthday, an anti-bullying initiative will be launched at Riverside secondary school in Port Coquitlam and the public is invited.
The program to be announced at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 27 at the school is expected to be multi-faceted and will be named Be Someone, after one of the slides in the anti-bullying video made by Todd about a month before she committed suicide. In the video, which has received millions of views worldwide and is still generating comments at #RIPAmanda on Twitter, Todd wrote in black felt pen, "I have nobody, I need someone."
The goal of the program, led by Gary Mauris, president and founder of Dominion Lending Centres, and Port Coquitlam Mayor Greg Moore is to ensure that every child who is bullied can "find someone," and that the community is there to "be that someone," according to a press release.

Members of the RCMP, business leaders, School District 43, the Port Coquitlam Youth Society and city officials are expected to attend Tuesday's Be Someone launch.
Amanda Todd's mother, Carol, who was not invited to a recent anti-bullying forum in Vancouver, is also expected to attend this event.
On Sunday, at a memorial service held for Amanda in Coquitlam, Todd talked about missing her daughter, whom she called Princess Snowflake. She also plans to distribute pink thread bracelets decorated with a snowflake in memory of her daughter and announced on Twitter a Snowflake Walk for Amanda on Dec. 9.
