A last-minute push to gain public feedback on the future of Riverview Hospital in Coquitlam proved to be a boon for BC Housing.
The last 10 days of the campaign, which asked participants to rate the drawing online that best described their vision of the 244-acre site, resulted in a 65% boost - or 6,000 additional ratings.
As a result, the 47 renderings received more than 9,000 ratings before the Jan. 16 cut-off date. Word about the nearing deadline came from print media - including a front-page article in The Tri-City News - as well as social media sources.
BC Housing officials say they will now tabulate the data for a report that will be presented to the city, provincial government and other stakeholders.
Dates for the fourth and final round of open houses for this spring have not yet been determined.
Shared Services BC is expected to formally transfer the 103-year-old hospital grounds to BC Housing in the next few months.
