If you're looking for two wheels at a bargain price, the KidSport Tri-Cities' spring sale is the place to go next month.
Executive director Chris Wilson said about 60 used bikes - left over from previous events as well as YMCA donations - are up for grabs on March 8 at Riverside secondary.
Buyers can also pick through hundreds of second-hand sports gear, from skis and snowboards to hockey and figure skates, that the community has offered to the organization over the past year; it is stored in a basement at Como Lake middle school.
Still, while it has a plethora of athletic goods, KidSport Tri-Cities is always on the hunt for more youth lacrosse clothing and equipment. "They last a long time so we don't see much out there," Wilson said. "There is always a need."
Donations can be dropped off between Feb. 26 to March 7 at the Port Coquitlam recreation complex, Port Moody recreation complex, Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex, Riverside secondary and Thiftopolis (D-2579 Lougheed Hwy.).
Last year's spring sale brought in $18,000 to help pay for sports registrations. In 2013, Wilson said KidSport was able to provide $130,000 in grants to 635 children whose families are in financial need.
Admission to KidSport's used sporting goods sale on March 8 is by donation or with a food bank item. The event, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., is presented by Westminster Savings credit union. Visit kidsporttricities.ca.
