A middle-aged man's body was discovered on a popular trail in Colony Farm Regional Park in Coquitlam around 4 p.m. Monday afternoon.
Coquitlam RCMP were initially called to the scene and have since turned the case over to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).
"Initial response by uniformed members of the Coquitlam RCMP determined that the victim was likely met with foul play," said IHIT spokesperson Sgt. Bari Emam in a press release.
While he couldn't confirm if the body was found by a passerby in the area, Coquitlam RCMP spokesperson Const. Jamie Chung said that is normally the case.
The victim is a man in his 40s whose identity has not yet been confirmed.
IHIT is asking anyone who was in the area adjacent to the dyke system or along the trail in the park that may have witnessed anything suspicious to calll the IHIT Tipline at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at [email protected].
