Port Moody police pulled the body of a 55-year-old Burnaby woman from Sasamat Lake Friday in a death police described as “not suspicious.”

Metro Vancouver staff helped police recover the body Friday afternoon, according to police.

The lake, which sits in Belcarra Regional Park and is bounded by both Port Moody and the village of Belcarra, is a popular destination for hikers, swimmers and beachgoers.

In a press release, Port Moody police Sgt. Brad Sheridan wrote that “our condolences go out to her family and friends.”

Police added that the woman's death is not connected to the ongoing search for Trina Hunt, a missing Port Moody woman who was last seen Jan. 18 in her Heritage Mountain home.
