Business as usual despite dusting of snow

Warmer temperatures melt the white stuff but more flurries may be on the way
First snow
A light dusting of snow blanketed some of the higher elevations in Coquitlam and Port Moody this morning.

A light dusting of snow on higher elevations overnight didn’t appear to slow down the morning commute or delay school openings.

In fact by mid-morning there was little snow remaining, even at schools such as Bramblewood elementary on Westwood Plateau, where last winter snow piled up for weeks.

The snow didn’t appear to stick to roads, prompting Coquitlam Mayor Richard Stewart to jest on Facebook that the “new self-melting snow appears to be working well over large areas of South Coquitlam.”

On Wednesday, School District 43 reminded parents to check the website (www.sd43.bc.ca) in the event of inclement weather.

Environment Canada is predicting a chance of flurries for Saturday night and Sunday before warmer temperatures and rain return on on Monday.
