Can you run the Anmore Fox run?

The Terry Fox Foundation is once again asking for someone to step forward to organize the Terry Fox Run in Anmore.

The Terry Fox Foundation is once again asking for someone to step forward to organize the Terry Fox Run in Anmore.

This week, the Port Coquitlam-based provincial organization issued a plea for a volunteer to head up the annual village run, which started in 2010.

For its first two years, it was led by Anmore Coun. Kerri Palmer Isaak and, last year, by Jon Davidson, who's returning to school in September and won't have the time to organize the event, said provincial director Donna White. Still, Davidson will be available this summer to help with the transition (to inquire about the role, email [email protected]).

This year marks the 33rd anniversary of the Terry Fox Run and event will be held Sunday, Sept. 15.

In the Tri-Cities, there will be four runs: Anmore, Port Moody, Coquitlam and the Hometown Run in Port Coquitlam. To lend a hand for the PoCo run, which typically sees thousands of participants, call Dave Teixeira at 604-418-9177 or email [email protected].

Proceeds from the runs support cancer research.
