What do you know about Port Moody's budget, and what changes would you propose?

"Taxes are too high. Some changes I'd like to see are looking at aging parks and recreation facilities and revamp our programs, and increase space for people of all ages to participate in some of our programs."

What issues will the Evergreen Line bring (good or bad) and how should those be handled?

"The challenge will be getting people to get off the train and enjoy some of the businesses and services we have in our city. I would like to really work hard to promote the tourism side. There shouldn't be an increase of crime because those areas are already considered higher crime activity areas, so we should be working with the Port Moody Police and other groups to make it safe for everybody."

What does Port Moody's "small-town charm" mean to you, and specify how you would preserve it.

"I like that we have heritage homes that we've been protecting. Large towers definitely change the city's appearance but it's the small-town charm is a feeling. As we develop, we have to increase space for public use and pedestrian access - that will be key to maintaining this feeling."

What large infrastructure/capital project do you think Port Moody should build next?

"The Kyle Centre is heavily utilized but it's starting to be quite an aging building, so it should be renovated to create more space for seniors and children in the area. The recreation centre is at capacity and the Inlet field needs to be renovated/expanded. More recreation spaces is going to be key for me."

Name two other top issues facing the city, and how you would tackle them.

"Safety and traffic is a huge one. We continue to have an increase in commuters through the city and with densification there will be more. We need to increase accessibility for public transit, with more small buses to get to the Evergreen Line so people don't have to drive down the hill and park. We need to make sure we have as many traffic calming measures in place as possible, especially for the St. Johns Street corridor, to protect children and families."
