What are Port Moody's main financial challenges and how should those be handled?

"Rocky Point Park and the library are at capacity and there's a need for revitalization of the Inlet sports field. These need to be addressed in the official community plan, which presents the best opportunity for those kinds of amenities. Tax increases need to be in line with the cost of living; my voting record on fiscal prudence is recognized in the community."

What issues will the Evergreen Line bring (good or bad) and how should those be handled?

"Rapid transit is greatly needed and I'm proud it's coming to Port Moody but what I'm hearing is that residents are concerned about the crime that may come with it. What I propose is something Richmond did, to have community police stations in the two Evergreen stations, staffed by Port Moody Police."

What does Port Moody's "small-town charm" mean to you, and specify how you would preserve it.

"Preserving our heritage character is key. Laneway housing will facilitate that rather than new development. It's imperative we move slowly in this new OCP, that we consult the neighbourhoods most impacted and get them involved. We need to see more employment space - and I'm not talking retail sales clerk, more Subways or Starbucks, I'm talking real jobs so people can make a living wage. We also need to extend Rocky Point Park."

What large infrastructure/capital project do you think Port Moody should build next?

"My top four are a revitalized Inlet sports field to encourage tournaments, an expanded library, a seniors' centre and a versatile performing arts space."

Name two other top issues facing the city, and how you would tackle them.

"This whole business of a slate - there is no question that what we have now on council is a slate. We have a mayor and a couple of councillors who vote 95% of the time the same way and that's a disappointment. We were elected to think, prepare and work for the people of Port Moody as independent thinkers, and my voting record proves that is what I've done."
