A Port Moody church is collecting stories of hope, change and community out reach at a special event for volunteers who worked at its winter shelter.

Called a "Collective Story Harvesting", St. Andrew's United Church is welcoming volunteers, shelter guests and community organizers to talk about what was learned during eight years of participating in the mat shelter program, including November and December in 2014

The event will be held Thursday, Feb. 12 from 7-9 p.m. at the church, 2318 St. Johns St., Port Moody. To RSVP or get more information, email [email protected] or call 604-939-5513.

Next fall, the new permanent shelter with 30 shelter beds and 30 units of transitional housing will open in Coquitlam at 3030 Gordon Ave.
