The mother of Amanda Todd has been short-listed for the 2013 Me to We Awards, presented by Canadian Living and AOL/Huffington Post Impact Canada.
Voting is now underway for six awards, including the Social Service category for which Carol Todd, a Port Coquitlam educator-turned-children's-advocate, has been nominated.
Todd says she was nominated by colleagues earlier this year, unbeknownst to her, and is honored to be recognized. "To be short-listed to three (nominees) for social action is huge," Todd said.
According to information provided by huffingtonpost.ca, the awards are to recognize people making a difference in communities, at home and abroad.
If she wins, Todd would put the $5,000 cash prize into the Amanda Todd/s Legacy/Memorial Fund, which is administered by the Vancouver Foundation.
Todd doesn't know how much is in the legacy fund and is waiting for the right project to support before making any disbursements. Meanwhile, fundraising continues for the fund that supports projects that deal with bullying, cyberbullying awareness, and resources, help for youth with mental health concerns or learning disabilities and combatting child exploitation.
Voting ends next Saturday, June 1. To participate, visit here.
