Tri-City groups wanting to get their hands on some of Coquitlam's casino cash have until Sept. 22 to apply.
The city is now accepting bids for its 2014 Spirit of Coquitlam grant program. Candidates are encouraged to sign up for a workshop, which will show applicants how to complete the forms properly and give information about how to be successful.
Pre-registration for the workshops - to be held on Sept. 3 and 10 at 6 p.m. at Pinetree community centre - is required by calling 604-927-4386 or visiting coquitlam.ca/spiritgrant.
In June, city council awarded $112,395 in Spirit grants to 18 organizations, including Children of the Street Society ($7,000 for a youth art project); Theatrix Youtheatre Society ($8,480 for a technical operations course for youth); and St. John Ambulance ($5,619 for First Aid gear).
Since the casino opened in 2002 on United Boulevard, Coquitlam has collected nearly $100 million from the provincial government as part of its 10% cut in net profits as host city.
