IKEA Coquitlam celebrates its 10th Anniversary with prizes and offers on Tuesday, April 3.

Located at the corner of Lougheed Highway and Woolridge Street, it was Canada's largest IKEA store when it opened in 2002. With a store size of over 330,000 square feet, it continues to be a key business in the Tri-Cities area, and a shopping destination for customers from as far as Prince George and Kelowna.

Over the years, the area around IKEA Coquitlam has developed and flourished, most recently with the construction of the nearby King Edward overpass. The store has also generated substantial tax revenues for the city, and continues to work with local organizations and schools on charitable giving and sustainability projects that will help the community in the long-term.

"We are very proud to be celebrating our tenth anniversary in Coquitlam," says Steve Foster, store manager, IKEA Coquitlam. "Many of our co-workers reside in the Tri-Cities and neighbouring areas, and take great pride in being able to work and give back through initiatives such as tree planting, fundraisers and donations. All of these efforts have allowed our co-workers to be active members of the community, which aligns with the IKEA vision of creating a better everyday life for the many people."

IKEA Coquitlam invites everyone to join in a celebration taking place on April 3rd between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. inside the store's entrance. There will be prize giveaways, face painting, great offers, and appearances by Coquitlam's Mayor Stewart and other members of the Coquitlam council and local business community.

The store will also be presenting a donation to SHARE, an organization that assists over 20,000 vulnerable children, families and individuals in the Tri-Cities, Anmore and Belcarra. In a fun twist, Peter Aragon, who famously camped outside the store for over a week to become IKEA Coquitlam's very first customer in line and the winner of a $5000 gift card in 2002, will also be in attendance.
