Police and WorkSafeBC officers are investigating a Coquitlam construction site this morning (Thursday) after a cement truck flipped over, trapping the driver inside.

Emergency officials were called to the incident at around 8:10 a.m. at Parker House, a property owned by Polygon Homes at 1133 Pipeline Rd., in the New Horizons neighbourhood.

Coquitlam RCMP Cpl. Jamie Chung said the roll-over is being described as an "accident" but couldn't give more information about the cause.

Coquitlam Fire/Rescue pulled the driver from the cab; he was taken to the hospital with "moderate but non-life threatening injuries," Chung said.

Neil Chrystal, president and CEO of Polygon Homes, told The Tri-City News the private road was properly marked and in good condition. The company, which had onsite safety officer at the time, is now working with WorkSafeBC.

"Our concern is for the driver," he said. "It was a fortunate outcome as the cab was compressed."
