Port Moody police are searching for the driver of a van that crashed into a home in the 2200-block of St. George Street last Thursday.

Officers first noticed the van because its temporary use permit was obstructed from view. When police activated their emergency lights to stop it, the vehicle fled down St. Andrews Street and eventually crashed into a garage on St. George.

But the chase was not over yet.

The suspect took off on foot and despite the efforts of the PMPD's dog unit, officers were unable to find the driver.

The file is still under investigation and anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call the Port Moody Police Department at 604-461-3456.

HIT & HURT

A 26-year-old Burnaby man is recovering after being struck by a vehicle while crossing St. Johns Street early Friday morning.

The incident occurred shortly after 1:50 a.m. and Port Moody police said poor weather and visibility were key factors in the accident.

"Alcohol was not a factor for the driver or pedestrian," said Const. Luke van Winkel. "No charges or motor vehicle act tickets are being considered at this time."

The man was crossing St. Johns Street in front of the Point Pub when he was struck by a vehicle heading west. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
