A Coquitlam family is amazed after winning the Community Savings Credit Union 1% Mortgage Giveaway. Jasbir Bhullar and his wife Baldish were awarded the prize, currently the lowest mortgage rate in Canada, on March 18.

"When I got the call from Carla, the branch manager, I didn't believe it at first," said Jasbir, a machine operator for a chemical company. "Knowing that I have the lowest rate in Canada is pretty exciting."

"We are very happy for the Bhullars, as they are new members of the Community Savings family," says Doug Eveneshen, president and CEO. "With mortgage rates on the rise in Canada, we're proud to offer outstanding rates to all of our members but one percent can be truly life-changing. For some folks, that's the equivalent of their annual income."

Jasbir has big plans for the future, "In the next five years, I want to pay down as much as possible on my home. I'm looking forward to making that last payment."
