Dessert lovers are mourning the loss of a Korean dessert joint on Pinetree Way in the city's town centre. But a Coquitlam database shows there are other places that serve Korean sweet treats.

A popular Korean dessert restaurant known for its icy treats with flavourful toppings has departed Coquitlam, leaving legions of fans disappointed.

Snowy Village, formerly located at 100-1188 Pinetree Way, is now permanently closed.

The website for the dessert eatery lists Snowy Village restaurants in Langley, New Westminster, Surrey and Richmond, as well as other cities in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Snowy Village specializes in snowflake shaved ice treats with various toppings and whipped cream, called bingsoo.

Taiyaki, a crispy, filled waffle, is another popular dessert treat served by Snowy Village.

Dozens of people on social media have commented on the demise of the dessert spot.

"A moment of silence for the now permanently closed Snowy Village... you'll be missed," said one poster on the Facebook group Eat Tri-Cities.

Still, if you're craving Korean sweet treats, the City of Coquitlam has a database of more than 300 restaurants, and lists 24 Korean restaurants, including three Korean dessert places:

  • Cup Full Dessert Cafe at Henderson Place Mall
  • Café Bono at Hanin Village
  • Passion8 Dessert Cafe at 104-403 North Rd.

The Tri-City News has reached out to Snowy Village for more information about the Coquitlam closure.
