A man who died in a motor vehicle accident on the Coquihalla last weekend has been identified as Graham Pearce Overbury of Coquitlam.

According to the BC Coroners Service, the 56-year-old was riding a motorcycle southbound at around 2:30 p.m. when he struck a stopped vehicle.

Two cars had been involved in an incident at the south end of the snowshed/tunnel, forcing several vehicles to stop abruptly. Investigators said Overbury was unable to stop in time and he crashed into the stopped vehicles.

Several other vehicles following the motorcyclist were also unable to avoid the wreckage and a total of 12 vehicles were involved.

He was taken to Fraser Canyon Hospital in Hope, but he had succumbed to his injuries before arrival.
